Artist's Description

The Confederate Troops vacated the Spanish Fort late at night and avoided capture by the Union Troops who made the decision to wait until morning to attack.

The Union had enveloped the Spanish Fort by April 1, and on April 8 captured it. Most of the Confederate forces, under the command of Brig. Gen. Randall L. Gibson, escaped at night by way of the Mobile Bay, fled to Mobile while the Union soldiers waited until morning to attack, but the Spanish Fort was no longer a threat. The Civil War ended shortly thereafter but not before the horrendous loss of life, from both North and South suffered.

About Robbie and Philip Bracco Phil and I love to do things in the outdoors in all kinds of weather.
