Description
Leesburg Florida is home for these beauties. Ibises have curved, slender bills that they use to probe into shallow water, mud, or grass when foraging. Gregarious birds, Ibises travel, breed, and live in flocks. A diagonal line or a V-formation forms when they are flying. Trailing birds benefit from this formation because it reduces wind resistance. Whenever one ibis tires, another takes its place at the front of the pack. Birds of this species are rather quiet, only grunting or croaking when breeding. With fossil records dating back 60 million years, ibises are an ancient species.
