Description
Photo of this Blue Winged Teal Bird at Lake Apopka Florida was shot on a trail and wildlife drive on the North Shore of Lake Apopka.
Golden circles developed just as this Teal Winged Bird hopped across the water. I was fortunate to catch the action as its wing came out to put on the brakes.
Around 500 species of birds live in the swamps of the North Shore of Lake Apopka, Florida, including the Blue Winged Teal duck.
In addition to eating aquatic insects, Blue-winged Teal also eat vegetation and grains. Animal matter rich in protein is the main source of food for laying females. During the winter, the main food source is seeds such as rice, millet, and water lilies.
